Frequently Asked Questions
ACUPUNCTURE CONSULTATIONS
What do I wear?
Usually with acupuncture it is advisable to wear loose clothing that can help the practitioner access your lower limbs and abdomen, if required.
Does it hurt?
The type of needles and techniques used in this clinic are designed for Westerners - i.e they are very gentle and mostly pain free. Many people comment that they cannot feel the needles at all.
How many sessions do I need?
An oriental medicine practitioner will assess your condition based on much more than simply the symptoms you present. In this case you may find every case different.
This is not to inadvertently not answer this question directly but to help you understand that even though two individuals have headaches, one may take a shorter period of time to resolve than another so no hard and fast rule applies. However, you will notice changes to your symptoms or the way you feel after every session.
Is it safe?
The needles are pre-sterilised single use Japanese needles. They are disposable. All normal health and hygiene methods are observed in a modern clinic as governed by the health regulations for Acupuncture professionals.
I am taking Western Medicines Pharmaceuticals - Can I still have Acupuncture?
Yes! It is important to disclose which medicines you are taking however Acupuncture is a safe adjunct to allopathic care. Visit Google scholar and type in Acupuncture to see a recent list of the most relevant research providing scientific studies on its clinical efficacy.
